How To Setup Your Own Computer

Software Requirements

  • To work on this lab on your own machine, you must be compatible with Vagrant, and Virtual Box.
  • Shipped supports Mac OS X, Windows 7 or higher, and Ubuntu 13.04 or higher.
  • Shipped supports any modern browser, but Chrome gives the best experience.

Hardware Requirements

  • Total Memory: Minimum 4 GB, but 8 GB is better.
  • Available Storage: Minimum 20 GB free, but 50 GB of Disk Storage free is better.
Server Infrastructure Required

This lab can be completed if you have access to the server infrastructure in a private lab or if you are at an event such as Cisco Live!

Shipped 1 - Using Shipped the First Time

Shipped is a DevOps platform that enables you to quickly build, deploy, and run containerized microservices.

Shipped is supported on Windows, Mac, and Ubuntu Linux.

Objectives

Completion time: 5 minutes

  • Sync Shipped with a GitHub account.

Prerequisites

Set up git on your local machine. Click here for first time set up (optional).

Connect to GitHub

  1. In a browser, go to https://ciscoshipped.io and sign up.
    You can use Shipped with any modern browser, but for optimal results, Chrome is recommended.

  1. Click Sign up with GitHub.
    The GitHub site opens in your browser.

  2. Click Authorize application to allow Shipped to read your public data. You only need to do this the first time you use Shipped.

The Shipped UI opens.

You can now run Shipped in three ways:

  1. UI - the easiest method and works on all platforms, although Chrome is recommended.
  2. API - usually for scripting and advanced users.
  3. CLI - within a Terminal window (Linux) or Command Prompt (Windows), navigate to your project directory and type shipped console. Enter the CLI commands from there.
